Planning
Selected Kites and banners.
One of the two formal themes for Artevento 2026 is Japanese kites or 'Japanese inspired creations' air displays, so selecting the kites to take is quite straight forward.
Jørgen Møller Hansen kites have many Japanese influences.
The rokkaku kites, a set of 5 from 1991 and a set of 4 from 1992 will be augmented by the 1995 Edo kite, the 1993 Eight Diamonds, an Edo variant and Four Diamonds which also has the very long multi-line bridle. Both have long tails which are also used with the Flare 1988.
The calligraphic elements on the set of four 1992 Flexifoils relate to the 1992 parafoil and other kites and banners.
We may be able to borrow a small Rokkaku kite, probably from 1993.
The Decorators Revolution Team kites sets are finalised. The original 2009 full vented 1.5 sails set has been restored to operational condition. The 2007 stack of 1.5 sails will be included, space permitting.

Preventative maintenance completed.
Back in the autumn 2025 the rebuilding of the 2009 full vent 1.5 sails was undertaken followed by oversewing of the 2015 set in the 1997 design as here.
They have been fitted with a new set of rods.
The 2009 sails have been added to the Team Kite bag and so the Not Zens are going to be packed in the JMH Kite bag with spars in place. (new bags as follows)
The 2009 sails are sparred with the green race rods that were previously in the 1997/2015 set.
Spars have been replaced in the 2007 1.5 stack after being borrowed for the iQuad training kites while the 2015/1997 set were out of action last AUtumn prior to maintenance work.
This has been serious stick practice!
A quick plan...
The ripstop fabric came from Jørgen's workshop and some of it had been used for tails for the Flare 1988!
Keeping the Not Zen sets together with their spars in the 'big' kite bag is the intention.
Not Zen 1994/2018.
A second bag was rustled up in the same pattern though maybe more quickly for the Not Zen 1992/2022 set.
Not Zen 1992/2022.
A sense of volume for packing takes shape today 11th March 2026!
31st March 2026
Tidy the bench ready to do an initial pack of the big bag!
Four 1992 JMH Rokkakus and 1995 JMH Edo.
1988 JMH Flare with two tails in the bag.
1993 JMH Four Diamonds with bag wrapped tail.
Five 1991 JMH Rokkakus
1992 and 1994 JMH Rev designs in Not Zen Format, 8 sails for each.
The six banners by JMH recently designated 1990 were in the miscellaneous kite bag but now in the big bag along with stakes and poles.
12 Sand bags and spades but the bag ties were missing! I seemed to remember, if that is really possible, that they were carefull put somewhere during the wrap-up at Cervia 2025. This was resolved today by finding 18 bag ties in the outside pocket of the team kites case!
The sand bags and sand anchor will travel in the JMH Kites bag as at 1st April. The JMH Eight Diamonds 1993 has also been added to the JMH Kites bag, 31st March. The 1990 JMH Parafoil will travel in FJM Kite Bag as at 1st April!
Tuesday 7th April. The Team Kite Bag has been packed as planned. Battery loaded 13th April.
Monday 13th April, checking line sets and miscellaneous kit!
Spare green race sets for black kite project to be added plus Rev stack handles and line sets.
Thursday 16th April, getting a 'handle' on packing the miscellaneous kit. Black kites don't need spars as Philippe acquired as complete set.
Rev stack lines not completely resolved... Soft handgrips, crocodile grips and wind speed meter are present. Hacksaw and sail tape. Need to decide if spectra for parafoil is required? It is very light...
Power sources!
25kg but quite dense! FJM Kite Bag...
