Felix's notes: We had been flying fighter kites on Blackheath from early 1988 if not late 1987. There was a 'first Sunday of the month' meet as I recall organised in part by Tony Cartwright.

The Kite Society organised a delegation to attend Dieppe which I think in those days was just a single weekend. I stayed in the hotel that is no longer there, Jake was at a campsite, up the hill.

I think that Romney was still away in the far east but he was back in time for the Rokkaku team competition at Bristol.

If my memory serves me well we had dinner with Philippe Gallot and small mussels were consumed in great quantities with the empty shells arranged, 'just so'.

It may be that we actually met some other kiting figures at Dieppe that year who featured later in our kite flying adventures.

The flying skill for the small fighter kites serves very well even with very much larger kites although the need to let the line run free may feel like a step too far!
